How to prevent drain blockage in the first place

The best strategy of all is preventing clogged or cracked drains before they ever happen. Here are just a few of the ways to do that:

  • Don’t plant trees or shrubs near your sewer line
  • Occasionally pour environmentally friendly root killer down your drain to get rid of existing roots and prevent regrowth
  • Try not to pour grease down the drain as it builds up

Dangerous gas hot water systems

Gas water heaters that have not been properly maintained can be dangerous to household residents. To reduce the risk of incidents occurring, replace old hot water systems with new, safer and more efficient models. Water heaters should be serviced yearly. Make sure your water heater (indoor or outdoor) is serviced once a year by a licensed gas fitter.
